City of Los Angeles Recognizes Advocacy of Hernaldo J. Baltodano
The City of Los Angeles has issued a certificate of recognition to founding partner, Hernaldo J. Baltodano, in appreciation of his contribution to the historic lawsuit, Flores v. Albertsons, et al. Mr. Baltodano was an integral part of the legal team that represented a class of more than 2000 janitors against major supermarket chains seeking compensation for unpaid minimum and overtime wages, meal and rest break violations, and other violations of California and federal wage and hour laws. On the event of trial, the case settled for approximately $22.4 million dollars and was featured in the 2010 documentary film Battle of the Invisibles. According to Los Angeles City Councilmember Jose Huizar, “Today 2300 janitors enjoy workplace protections, a path to living wage, job security and health care. . . . Because of your deliberate acts, our community is stronger.”
